A favorite from the Nedre Foss collection
a Norwegian design manufacturer established by Anderssen & Voll.
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Norwegian manufacturer Nedre Foss, established by design firm Anderssen & Voll in 2015, we would like to highlight Vannfall, a water jug that evokes images of an ice-covered waterfall.
The process behind the new Vannfall mug from Nedre Foss is a little more complex than you might think. Japanese designer Jin Kuramoto is known for testing solutions in physical models. With a waterfall in mind, he began wrapping string around a steel wire frame. A layer of plaster was then applied to the somewhat random mug shape. Once the plaster had hardened, the shape was scanned and printed in a 3D model. This model then became the basis for a steel mold. Kuramoto emphasizes that this allowed him to preserve the handmade look of the random prototype all the way to the finished product. The vases are made of both pressed glass and mold-blown glass and come in clear and green versions.
