The Ordinary, an exploration in senses

A REMINDER
Under the title The Ordinary, three artistic souls, Anne, Yi and Sonja, have created a temporary magical little universe in the corner room by the canal in Bispevika. While the world rushes by outside, you are invited in for a cup of tea and a moment of reflection on what matters in life.
"Our common idea with this exhibition was to remind people of all the beauty we have around us. Many people think they must have this or that, but beauty is already there, in all the little details or things you do. Just cutting a slice of cucumber is a beautiful act when you start to notice the details in the cucumber slices," says Yi.
What you wear
Yi runs YiLi Designstudio with her colleague Li. They sell their own designs of jewellery and ceramics. Their logo is a grain of rice.
- Rice grains are something ordinary that so many people depend on. We want to make the ordinary extraordinary.
What you see
Photographer @annemeranda_photo has selected a series of photographs from her portefolio in which nature's small wonders take centre stage.
My pictures do not shout loudly. When an area of rock is exposed, it becomes beautiful. The stone becomes something solid that is there for us forever.
WHAT YOU SMELL
For those who wish, it is possible to attend small workshops with fragrance creator Sonia who runs Kensla Studio.
"I grew up in China, where fragrance was considered something for capitalists. It was seen as indecent. But I loved fragrance and began my own fragrance journey three years ago.
"Do you like fragrance?" she asks kindly before continuing.
- Fragrance is something very personal. It awakens our senses, and the interesting thing happens when we try to describe a fragrance. We often use our other senses to describe a smell. It smells like lemon, or it smells like my childhood.
“You do not need to search for it, beauty is already there, in all the little details or things you do.”
